PODCAST
My try to help individuals thrive by demystifying the energy system complexities such that everyone feels empowered to participate in the new energy evolution.
Although climate change is getting more attention, it is rare that we get an ecosystem view of who is responsible for what. And given that climate affects everything we know – from electricity and transportation, to water, manufacturing and our social fabric – it also poses a challenge: where do we start in tackling the problems? For those who are outside of the traditional energy, environment and climate sectors, it’s hard to feel engaged in the Cleantech Revolution.
This podcast is designed to call out the systems of sustainability in our jobs, our daily lives and our communities. Sustainability is rewiring the way organizations work as new partnerships are created between nontraditional allies.
As we listen to these experts share their stories, think to yourself, within my communities, where are my levers of exchange?
books
My books have been sold in over 25 countries and have guided students, executive and business leaders on how to search for opportunities in the cleantech sector. Both are available on Amazon.
The Corporate Energy Strategist’s Handbook: Frameworks to achieve environmental sustainability and competitive advantage. For any leader or manager, this is a collection of over 120 business frameworks applied to the energy, sustainability, and climate action. The goal is to help organizations improve collaborations across departments by using tools that are native to each department and function. Palgrave MacMillian.
Driven by Demand: How Energy Gets its Power. Most books on energy for the popular reader provides simplified explanations of how energy technologies work, with one chapter summarizing the ‘business, social, and political challenges’. This book does the opposite - it has one chapter on the technology and spends the rest of the time telling stories of social, political, and economic issues that can have an even larger effect on energy consumption. At the end of the day, we consume energy to satisfy a societal demand. Cambridge University Press.
Workshops
Climate issues require a systems approach; and although companies are making progress in their internal plans and processes, gaps exist between and within sectors, providing ample opportunities for the innovation economy to lead the way.
I have hosted a series of retreats which create new network connections among the attendees by working through our mutual uncertainties and risks to produce thought-pieces that connect systemic problems with bite-sized solutions.
Such unaddressed gaps can create jobs, spur new product innovations, support local economic development and exemplify global leadership in a climate-resilient future.
